Super Stars ⭐️

Yesterday we started the morning back at  Huravee School for our first session with the Stars! ⭐️ As with our other training sessions, the focus was on ‘confidence, leadership and decision making’. 



The stars were full of energy and enthusiasm… so as a team we knew we had to match it!! Our session started off with us playing a game of 4 corners. The aim of this game was for the stars to make the decision which corner they were going to pick … in the hope that it wasn’t the one Liv picked. If the stars were in the corner Liv picked they were out of the game! 

Up next we had a quick song led by Holly… Get Loose! 💃🏼 The Stars were really engaged and had lots of fun dancing along. 




Georgie was up next and she led a game of ‘Would You Rather’. Throughout the game, we realised that actions were very effective so we acted out things such as ‘fishes or birds’ and ‘jumping or running’. It introduced the Stars to the concept of making decisions! We attempted a game of ‘Follow the Leader’. We realised quickly that it didn’t work well with the Stars, so we moved on swiftly. 😆 By the end of the session, the Stars grew massively in confidence and were able to talk and interact with us as well being silly and having fun. 







A quick bus to Galolhu school for our next session with another group of stars. This group were younger so we had to adapt our planned session. We sang a few songs, these included ‘Moose Alpaca’, ‘Boom-Chicka-Boom’ and ‘Get Loose’. The Stars had soo much energy and enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed copying our actions to each song! We also played various games such as ‘Georgie says’, ‘Would You Rather’ and ‘4 Corners’.







Thank you for having us Galolhu school, we had a lovely time with the Stars!!



We had a few hours off in the afternoon before we were joined by many of our friends and future potential Young Leaders from the MGGA for a games night in the evening. Many games were played, such as passing a hoola hoop around the circle and a crazy game Liv taught us called ‘Bunny Bunny’. It wouldn’t be a Guiding night without a song or two!

26th August 2022 ~ an early start to the day as we all enjoyed our breakfast meal out with many MGGA members.   This was shortly followed by a bike tour of Male and Hulhumale.  We soon headed back to the association to pack and prepare for our trip to N.Holhudhoo. Before we knew it, it was time to head out for our evening meal at Solite, with the MSGF. It was a fantastic opportunity learn about each other and our cultures, and to share Guiding knowledge and. We even had a sing song at the end of the evening. Meet the Team! (part 2)

 Introducing the world to Tas! Tas is the First Aider for Team Maldives 2022. Tas has been in Girlguiding for 7 years. Tas got into volunteering at her local Brownie unit in 2015 and is now a Rainbow Leader for a unit she opened 5 years ago. Tas absolutely loves volunteering! The Maldives will be the first international trip Tas has been on through Girlguiding and she is hoping it will be the first of many! Tas loves the colour yellow as it is so bright and summery! Being from a Jamaican background, Tas enjoys most West Indian cuisines from jerk chicken to ackee and saltfish! Meet Georgie, who will be our teams Training and Resources Coordinator. Georgie has been in Girlguiding since she was a Rainbow and has been through all the sections and is now an adult Leader! Georgie is currently a Guide Leader in both Staffordshire and Derbyshire. Georgie has had a range of International experiences with Girlguiding, with a few favourites being travelling to Canada, Iceland and Switzerland...

A very warm welcome 💛🇲🇻

As we exited baggage claim we were enthusiastically welcomed into the Maldives by many of the lovely MGGA members. They were holding a banner that said “Maruhaba” which means welcome in Dhivehi. We were given wonderful gift bags and delicious coconuts. Once we had all changed our money and sorted out SIM cards it was time to head into Male.  A short trip over the bridge into the city and we were soon at our accommodation. We were given a tour of our accommodation, met more members and were given some local treats  😋   Later on in the day we had a meeting ExCo members and we experienced “short eats”. This included traditional Maldivian snacks such as pink sago and pancakes!  🥞 Soon after that a few members took us on a brief tour around Male to see some wonderful sights, we even gate crashed a four year olds Frozen party  ❄️  (with permission  😆 ).    For dinner this evening, we were treated to many Maldivian delicious meals… best to say we...
