Time to Fly! ✈️🌏🇲🇻

Team Maldives have finally made it to the Maldives after a very long 24 hours of traveling! 🌏

A very early start to the day for some meant having to get up at 3:30 am to make it to Heathrow in time to meet the rest of the team 🙈 








Liv had a mystery parcel to hand out to the team, delivered to us by team Maldives 2020/21…. and it turns out that it was Tilly the turtle from team Maldives 2019 🐢



After a smooth check in and security process we headed to Spuntino for a spot of lunch… all meals thoroughly enjoyed 😋




Prior to our flight, we got a few team photos at the gate before being told that our flight to Dubai was delayed! A delayed flight by an hour combined with a short window time to make our connecting flight to Male, resulted in our team having to sprint through Dubai international! 





Another 4 hours to go until we reached the Maldives…. Fortunately for some they are able to get sleep on flights… 😆



9 am was upon us and we finally touched down in the Maldives. All we had left was immigration (good job we checked our visas 😉) and then we were able to collect our luggage and meet the wonderful team at MGGA.

26th August 2022 ~ an early start to the day as we all enjoyed our breakfast meal out with many MGGA members.   This was shortly followed by a bike tour of Male and Hulhumale.  We soon headed back to the association to pack and prepare for our trip to N.Holhudhoo. Before we knew it, it was time to head out for our evening meal at Solite, with the MSGF. It was a fantastic opportunity learn about each other and our cultures, and to share Guiding knowledge and. We even had a sing song at the end of the evening. A very warm welcome 💛🇲🇻

As we exited baggage claim we were enthusiastically welcomed into the Maldives by many of the lovely MGGA members. They were holding a banner that said “Maruhaba” which means welcome in Dhivehi. We were given wonderful gift bags and delicious coconuts. Once we had all changed our money and sorted out SIM cards it was time to head into Male.  A short trip over the bridge into the city and we were soon at our accommodation. We were given a tour of our accommodation, met more members and were given some local treats  😋   Later on in the day we had a meeting ExCo members and we experienced “short eats”. This included traditional Maldivian snacks such as pink sago and pancakes!  🥞 Soon after that a few members took us on a brief tour around Male to see some wonderful sights, we even gate crashed a four year olds Frozen party  ❄️  (with permission  😆 ).    For dinner this evening, we were treated to many Maldivian delicious meals… best to say we...

Our last training sessions…

29/08/22 ~ an early start to the day as we said farewell to our Guiding friends in Holhudhoo ready for our next adventure! We hopped on a speed boat to Velidhoo.   Upon arrival we were given a tasty coconut and then enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet.    It was then time to head off to our accommodation. This morning, we jumped in a pickup truck to enjoy a tour of the island and then we ate lunch at the Noonu Atoll Education Centre.  We had a great time in our Guides session this afternoon. The Guides were so enthusiastic and put 100% into every activity! The Young Leaders hosted our afternoon tea and then we enjoyed a session with them and the Guiders where we played lots and lots of games on the beach! Before we knew it, it was time for our Maldivian night. We all got dressed up in traditional clothes and headed to the youth association.
